초록 Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the risk factors affecting the degree, extent, and severity of hearing loss caused by chronic kidney failure. Methods: In the hemodialysis department of the Kidney Dialysis and Endocrine Center of State Third Central Hospital, a retrospective study was conducted by performing hearing test among patients who were under the supervision of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatment. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS statistical software. Results: In the study, 59.5% (n=22) of the participants were male and 40.5% (n=15) were female, the average age was 52.19±11.08 years. Regarding the causes of chronic kidney failure, 56.8% (21) of the participants in the study had renal or glomerular disease, 32.4% (12) had hypertension, and 10.8% (4) had other causes. Hearing loss status was evaluated by audio recording: 35.1% n=13 normal, 5.4% n=2 subnormal, 37.8% n=14 mild, 8.1% n=3 moderate, 13.5% n= 5 had severe hearing loss. Conclusions: The results of the current study indicate that patients with chronic kidney failure are more likely to have hearing loss than healthy people. Hemodialysis treatment, electrolyte imbalance, and hypertension have been observed to be risk factors for hearing loss, so further research is needed to protect hearing and improve the quality of life of patients.
