초록 Objectives: Diabetes mellitus is associated with the derangement of the normal metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. Long-term complications of diabetes can lead to visual impairment , blindness, kidney disease, nerve damage, heart disease, and stroke. Diabetic nephropathy is a common complication in diabetic patients characterized by persistent albuminuria, a progressive decline in glomerular filtration rate. Microalbuminuria is considered the earliest sign of diabetic nephropathy among diabetes patients. In order to effectively manage diabetic nephropathy and its consequences early, detection of microalbuminuria as soon as possible, especially for diabetes patients, is critical. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the prevalence of microalbuminuria among diabetes patients in our hospital Methods: This study was conducted on 151 diabetis melitus type II patients who received medical care in internal medicine department from 2019-2022. Results: Results: The prevalence of microalbuminuria among diabetes patients was 30.4%. microalbuminuria was more common in people with diabetes for more than 10 years 39 compared with 20.6 percent in patients less than 10 years. Also patients with uncontrolled diabets had more prevalence of microalbuminuria. Conclusions: This study concluded that high prevalence of microalbuminuria among diabetes patients. As a result, early detection of microalbuminuria is critical for preventing and treating microvascular complications such as diabetic nephropathy and the onset of end-stage renal disease.
