초록 Background: Mucormycosis is a potentially fatal mycotic infection in poorly controlled diabetes mellitus, organ transplantation, stem cell transplantation, leutropenia, cancer and immunosuppressed patients. Methods: Mucormycosis can manifest with different clinical presentations, particularly in solid organ transplantation recipients, among whom the most common type of infection is paranasal sinus (39%) followed by pulmonary (24%), cutaneous (19%), cerebral (9%), and gastrointestinal forms(7%) (2). Results: A 50-year-old man with end-stage renal disease due to diabetic nephropathy underwent deceased donor kidney transplantation at 6 month ago. He complained of headache and nasal pain. In rhinologic examination, inferior and middle turbinate necrotic changes were found and excision biopsy was done. Brain CT scan and spinal tapping showed normal findings. Microscopic examination obtained from specimen showed numerous fungal hyphae and spores are noted. The diagnosis of nasal mucormycosis was mad by clinical findings and the morphological features. A surgical evacuation and antifungal agents were performed, the patients was successfully treated 6 weeks later. Conclusion: In this case, we present the successful treatment of nasal mucormycosis in kidney transplantation patient.
