제목	Clinical Factors Associated with the Diagnosis and Progression of Diabetic Nephropathy

초록	As an important complication of diabetic mellitus, diabetic nephropathy (DN) has been the main cause of end-stage renal disease. It is of great importance to diagnose DN early, and to identify the risk factors of disease progression in order to carry out in-time and effective therapies. Several clinical factors could be used in the diagnosis and progression evaluation of DN, but the significance of these factors is still controversial and limited. With regard to this, the speaker will make a presentation entitled “Clinical Factors Associated with the Diagnosis and Progression of Diabetic Nephropathy” and may discuss the contents as follows: 1) the epidemiology of diabetes mellitus and DN, 2) the changing concept from diabetic nephropathy to diabetic kidney disease (DKD); 3) the values and limitations of several factors in diagnosing and predicting the renal outcome of DN, including hyperglycemia, albuminuria, hypertension, dyslipdemia and histological damage, 4) the latest breakthrough in identifying candidates novel markers of development and progression of DKD, 5) multifactorial strategies that target existing risk factors.
