To investigate the patient and graft survival among recipients of deceased kidney transplants All the deceased kidney transplants between January 2004 and December 2015 were included. Data on donors and recipients were collected The patient and graft survival and impact of donor and recipient’s characteristics were analyzed 207 transplants were carried out; mean age of the donors and recipients were 37.1±11.8 yrs. and 37.7±17.4 yrs. respectively. The prevalence of male gender amongst the donors and recipients was 90.8 % and 58.7% respectively The median graft and patient survival were 7.5 ±3.4 and 7.95±3.2 years respectively. The graft survival at one and five years was 95% and 73.8% respectively The graft survival was not affected by the donor or recipient sex. However, the median graft survival was longer when no graft biopsy was (8.2 versus 6.9 years (p=0.027) and when the biopsy diagnosis of CNI nephrotoxicity compared to ATN or AMR (8.19. 6.35 and 3.66 years respectively) (p= 0.0047) The median graft survival was significantly longer in recipients of kidneys from donors who died as result of trauma than from CVA ( 5.9 and 5.3 years respectively (p= 0.029) (fig 1_ The median graft survival in recipients for donors who developed AKI during their ICU stay was shorter ( 6.97 and 8.16 years respectively, p=0.0062) (fig 2) The median graft survival in recipients was l younger for younger donors The mean, mean BP at harvesting of the kidneys did not affect the graft survival The actuarial graft survival at one and five years was 95% and 73.8% respectively. The graft survival was affected by the donor’s age, whether a graft biopsy was done, cause of brain death and development of AKI in the donor, but not by donor’s or recipient’s sex, posttransplant DM or hypertension or donor’s BP at harvesting |
